Society of Paediatrics Endocrinologist in Nigeria
The Paediatric endocrinologists in Nigeria came together in 2010, facilitated by Dr Tokunbo Jarrett to form a society of paediatric endocrinologist in Nigeria to promote research, education and clinical practice in paediatric endocrinology for the benefit of the public. They named the society, Society for Paediatrics and Adolescent Endocrinology of Nigeria (SPAEN) .
In achieving these set goals, there was a need to organize scientific conferences, educational activities and publications which would raise awareness amongst the public and private sector to include all tiers of government (Federal, State and Local) in Nigeria.
The maiden meeting was held on January 2010 with 5 members in attendance. The first election was held in March 2010 and the following people were the first set of executive committee.

Since its inception there has been ongoing activities by the society. There has been opportunity to have presentations during one of the scientific sessions which has triggered great interest in the subspecialty amongst colleagues and led to skill acquisition and the increase in prompt referrals of likely endocrine cases.
